Liz Padilla Memorial 5K Promo Materials

by

I have enjoyed working with Karen of Empire Events Group for several years, so when she approached us with the task of creating a more compelling visual program to promote the Liz Padilla Memorial 5k for the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, I knew we had to accept the challenge. As with most non-profits, the budget was tight and to save costs the plan was to do a fair amount of email promotion coupled with printed pieces to be produced at a copy shop.

As the event is meant to be a celebration of Liz’s spirit, I wanted to create something that was vibrant. It was also important to create something that didn’t look like it was from a copy shop even though it would be.  I made a collage of event photos that featured the different runner segments at the event, and then united the graphics with bold, colorful brush strokes to created a youthful, painterly effect.

We first developed a header graphic that was utilized in a series of e-blasts. The same style was built into a registration brochure that showcased all the event details.

The final piece we created was an 11 x 17 in poster that was hung in shop windows and at other businesses to build awareness of the event.
