My predictions of things you might hear from Steve Jobs at tomorrow's press conference. Feel free to add any you see fit...

"We've contacted all the major television networks, and we expect to see the first interactive TV shows by early this Spring"

"An Apple computer in every home"

"The centralized hub of information for your entire family"

"We've seen a growth of casual gaming in the last year"

"HDTV's are more affordable than ever"

"Most people use their computers for playing games, sharing photos, checking email and interacting with friends and family"

"You'll be able to get your content on any Apple device"

"We've entered into partnerships with several game companies"

"The device uses facial recognition"

"More games than any of the consoles combined"

"The way we use the internet is changing"

It's fun to speculate about this kind of stuff and see how close you can get to the actual product at release time.

Using it as a digital photo frame would be a cool use. Having the prop base be able to charge the tablet at the same time you are using it as a photo frame would be a nice also.

I liked this rendition as a possible look: http://bit.ly/6iT9Ws.

Love your ideas Keith.

Thanks for starting the discussion and geeking out with me on this! I know I'm getting pumped up.

I think an SD card reader would be a great addition. Pop in your SD card from your camera and view photos on your TV? Sounds cool to me... Or prop your tablet up when you're not using it and you have yourself a digital photo frame.

There's so many possibilities beyond just a tablet form factor computer.

best

Very interesting thoughts and points that you make. I have to agree with you on many of your points. I think most people are underestimating what Apple is capable of making this device do. I never considered being able to link it to a base station type setup, but I could see the possibilities. I wonder if there isn't a way to tie it into the current AppleTV product also, since I am one of the 13 owners of one I would very much like that. They even have an already made platform to use as a base station in the Mac Mini, I would think that form factor would be perfectly suited.

As much as I would love one for the ability to stream video and audio from the net or iTunes anywhere in the house, the real plus for me would be using it to catch up reading blogs and news stories off the net. It would make is it much easier to do while sitting on the couch or even sitting in bed for a little late web surfing. Sometimes a full laptop or netbook is just to clumsy to deal with, just holding a screen would be ideal.

Couple of additional specs.
iTablet Base Station:
- Component Video Out and Optical Audio Out (For some of the first generation HDTVs that didn't have HDMI connectors.)
- Gigabit Ethernet connection (Sometimes wired is still better and more reliable than wireless.)
