New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers 2009 Membership Reception Invitation

The New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers came to me looking for a fresh take on their annual membership reception invite. They challenged me to create an invite that represented a higher caliber event for the 5th Anniversary, but could still be produced cost effectively to fit within the same budget as the previous year’s.

I proposed a format that was a bit non-traditional with an accordion fold, but built in cost savings by keeping the flat size within a standard size sheet and limiting the printing to 2 colors on one side. I also substituted a gloss varnish for one of the inks. This is a great way to add sophistication without adding a lot of cost. The varnish was applied as a pinstripe pattern over a rich blue, creating the effect of a crisp pinstripe suit which I thought complemented the audience.

We also saved costs by producing the reply card as a postcard. This eliminates the need to print a reply envelope.

Everything together made an elegant, cohesive presentation. I also created a label template that the client used to produce name tags for the event that continued the graphic theme.
