3 thoughts for the week of July 4, 2011 (South Shore Tweetup, Wordcamp Boston & Tech Day)

- As South Shore people it can be a little tough to meet new people. Let’s face it, these southern ‘burbs aren’t the hub of social interactions. Don’t get us wrong, there’s plenty of great people south of Boston, but definitely not as many opportunities to meet these interesting new folks. Recently, we found a group of local twitter users who decided to get together and hang out at an event called the South Shore Tweetup. For those of you who might not be familiar with the concept of a tweetup, it’s a casual networking event that typically involves people sitting around getting to know each other over adult beverages. It’s really a good time, and you certainly don’t need to be on twitter to attend, but if you’re not on twitter yet, what the heck are you waiting for? The South Shore Tweetup is presented by John Cass and our friends over at The Toolbox and we’d love to see some other south shore folks in attendance next time. Drop us a line if you’re interested in coming and we’ll make sure you get all the info.
- Next on the list of events happening this summer/fall is Wordcamp Boston. Wordcamp is a two day mini conference for people who use WordPress. The conference consists of programs for beginners, intermediates and hardcore WordPress users and it’s a great place to meet other like-minded people. There’s quite a few wordcamps though out the country, but we’ll be attending the conference in Boston on July 23-24th at Boston University. If you’re a seasoned wordpress user or interested in getting started we’d definitely recommend checking this event out.
- And the last event we’re looking forward to takes place October 22nd in Quincy, MA and it’s called Tech Day Camp. Tech Day is a brand new conference that will focus on technology and technology education. It’s shaping up to be a really nice event with a lot of local tech experts speaking on a range of topics such as social media, software, gadgets and all things geek. We’ll keep you posted on news for Tech Day, but feel free to drop by their site to get more info. Hope to see you there!
