3 thoughts for the week of December 14, 2009 (commitment, Web 3.0, and "oh, you do that too?")
December 16, 2009//Last Updated January 6, 2013
- December 13th 1969 Bruce Robert Ulvila married Donna Jane Scott. It was definitely their second best moment in their life. The top spot is forever held by the birth of their son, Matti. But in all seriousness, 40 years is an amazing accomplishment. In a world where half of marriages end in divorce and/or golf clubs wrapped around cheating husbands heads, the Ulvilas have truly beat the odds. So, congratulations to the both of them, and may you have 40 more years of happiness together.
- Everyone has been mildly, if not overly, obsessed with Web 2.0. With rise of social media, a shift has happened in how people create and share info. A revolution of sorts with the individual at the center. (See Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc.) People are taking control of their media, and now that we have, we like it, and we’re not letting it go without a fight. So what will be next? What’s web 3.0? In our opinion, 2010 will be the year the way we receive and view content will change. For instance, this holiday season, the must have gift seems to be the Amazon Kindle . Time to face the fact that the world has embraced digital distribution (itunes/app store/steam/xbla). The shift to downloading/streaming premium digital content such as music, movies, games, magazines and books is here. And, just look how the all the puzzle pieces are lined up for Apples next big thing in 2010:
Software development kit? Check! Developers? Check! Distribution? Check! Millions of apps, Publishers on board, a viable plan to share profits, affordable components, and a digitally acclimated public who crave information at all times where ever they are? Check! The plans are in place, so look for 2010 to be the year Apple shakes up the world with a tablet device capable of reading e-books, playing games, watching movies and much much more. And it will do this at home or on the go, anywhere you have a wireless signal. We’re not only excited, but 3thought is getting ready to design for it.
- Most people see the name 3thought and think, what the heck is that? The short and simple answer is, we do graphic design. But, that’s way over simplified. We actually do a lot more than just graphic design. Did you know we can help you put together a marketing plan for your business? Did you know, we can also color correct, process, organize, silhouette, retouch and/or manipulate your digital photography? We also help companies with their social media and manage everything from Content, Blogs, to Facebook and Twitter. And speaking of the web, did you know that we help you with information architecture (IA), user experience (UX) and user interface design (UI)?Yes, we do print design, web design, branding, identity, business cards, letterhead, e-newsletters, mailers, posters, brochures, ads, layout and the traditional graphic design. But we also do a lot more. Chances are, if we don’t do it, we have a strategic partner we work with who does. Just read thought 2 above and you’ll see how the world is changing rapidly. Today more than ever you need a company that understands where we are, and where we’re heading. That company better be able to offer you the services to not only keep up, but to stay ahead of the curve. That’s why we do more than just graphic design. We’re 3thought. You know, before forethought? We’re forward thinkers with a passion for helping people and companies communicate. How else can we help you?
